Limited Reading Challenge host messaging
N
ninjJan 7, 2026
An opt-in for a limited communication to a challenge host, for a member to:
- flag a book for attention
- flag there is a missing entry
This limited form means Hosts can get some communication about Challenge issues, whilst also limiting the potential for excessive random messaging.
Use cases:
- Book Challenge is the set of books from an award, and a new award has been given and so the new book should be added to the challenge
- Book Challenges where the book is part of a set (such as an international award) but the wrong book has been selected
- Book Challenges where there was more than one entry for a year but only one entry for the year was included in the Challenge
In the absence of this, people just end up creating near identical challenges

We're definitely going to have a flagging option and at least reading challenge forums. Not sure about direct messaging, but it is something we have considered for sure.
+1 I have a reasonably popular challenge and am suddenly getting a bunch of friend requests. I don’t want to add random readers, but part of me wonders if they’re trying to be able to contact me about something. I wouldn’t want a fully blown inbox, but a limit dropdown of missing a book (with link to book + optionally prompt), clearly missing a prompt, inappropriately added book (with link to book + prompt), typo in prompt etc. could be nice!
But like any user contact, it’d also need the ability to block another user, unfortunately.
bookcasey this may have been me - I was attempting to do so for a novella challenge that included the novella "enemy mine" but the challenge incorrectly links to the novel, published later.
