warning if aleady on owned list

I have just added all my books to my owned list, but I found I had duplicated some (note sure how). Having a warning when adding a book with something like
'you already have another edition of this book marked as owned would you like to -cancel adding this edition, -replace the edition on your list for this one or -add this edition anyway.'
With each hyphen being a button. This could help prevent accidental re-adds while still allowing it to happen (i have multiple copies of the same book, so I know some people will need that)

Yes this would also be good since a sensible reason for this to happen is because forgetting you added this book before. Some tbrs date back to many years ago, this warning could prove helpful and make you realize oh I should probably read this now since it has peaked my interest x amount of times years apart (perhaps a hidden 5 star)
I would also appreciate this option, it would definitely help to track larger libraries and when making purchases in shops! ❤️
Oh, the reason it works now without a warning is because of the very reason you state needing a warning! I figure it's rare for people to have multiple editions of the same book and most of the time they do want those different editions in the app, so this would add extra friction...but your feedback is noted! This is the first time we've had such a complaint in the seven years we've had this feature, but that doesn't mean it isn't a valid request.
Nadia I think I worked out what happened. When I scan the ISBN it is not always accurate (that is not a problem from the app but my bad phone camera and shaky hands I think). So when I was logging my books I forgot where I was and rescanned some (and because it was getting the right ISBN it showed as not owned). So I think this is probably mostly a problem from new user who haven't catalogued their full library. (I have a chronic condition so did not have the stamina to log 300 books in one go)
bishopofsinnoh Oh, I see. Thank you for explaining. Well, in that case, I'm sorry for the shortcomings with the feature and we'll work on improving that at some point.
