I propose a weighted star rating system. Specifically, I don't think a DNF 1 star rating should be given the same weight in a rating. Many literary classics are rated much lower than "crowd pleasers" and perusing the ratings, it seems like some of this may be due to people marking DNF and citing everything from form to content to issues with characters not being likable to give a poor rating. I think a "% DNF" would be a good metric to still give those people a voice, but rating a book after reading 1/4 of it is silly.

I don't think you CAN rate an actual DNF in storygraph? It's actually something that has bothered me the other way haha, because on the rare occasions when I do DNF a book because it is atrocious, I want to be able to give it a star rating to reflect that in the average. I've seen comments where people give it a low star rating and say in the comment "DNF", but I tend to assume that those are reviews imported from GR rather than people doing it through StoryGraph itself, and I don't think that would be impacted by what you are proposing.
