Is there an option to turn off this tag? I don’t care what the sexuality of the people in my books is, it even spoils part of the story for me sometimes. Which I hate, I don’t want to be spoiled, it’s not a genre, I honestly don’t know why it’s such a huge thing on this site about books. Who you love is not a genre, it’s just life, it’s part of the story, not the whole story. And if you take it this far, then I think you should add more cultural relevant tags, not just this one.

Emojis in Tags

I'd love the option to use emojis in my tags. For me, it's super helpful to have that visual image in addition to a written description. Thank you!

section for "on your TBR" in read/unread graph

Currently, there's a graph for your owned books that shows what percentage of your books are read vs unread. However, since books on The StoryGraph don't (thankfully!) have to be on your TBR even if you log them as owned, I think that graph would be more interesting/useful/feel less mocking if it instead had sections for read/on your TBR/not on TBR, or if that's not a popular idea, that there was another such graph for your unread books. I know we can already filter owned books by if they're on your TBR or not and calculate the percentages manually, but it would also be a cool graph!

In Progress books on monthly wrap up

I love the monthly wrap ups!

I've been working my way through a long book over these past few months in addition to one shorter book, so my page numbers show 500+ pages but only 1 book finished. It makes it seem like that one book I finished is way longer than it actually is.

It would be great if we could show books that were in progress, but not finished. Maybe in the corner like the books are displayed in the calendar wrap up?

Thank you for considering, and for all the work you put into making Storygraph so awesome!

Add DNFs to Monthly Wrap Graphics

Add DNFs to Monthly Wrap Graphics for covers/ratings.

Food Scarcity/Hunger/Starvation Content Warning

It would be great to add “food scarcity/hunger/starvation” (or something along those lines) to the list of content warnings that readers can use. This type of content can be triggering to people with eating disorders and would be good to know going into a book, though it doesn’t fall under the “eating disorder” warning. As someone tagging books with content warnings, I would assume that the “eating disorder” tag is for a character who has an eating disorder or is engaging in eating disorder behaviors, while the tag I would like to add would cover situations where there is food scarcity or discussion of potential food scarcity, but it’s not self-imposed.

Special “6 stars” option

Sometimes a book is just sooo good I want to show that in my rating by giving it a special star or some other recognition.
I think it would be cool if you had a limited number of annual bonus stars to give to books you found truly outstanding.

Easier switch between book versions/formats

I struggle to find audiobook versions of the books I’m reading, which throws off my charts. I’d like an easy way to accomplish this. Maybe there’s already a way to do this that just isn’t obvious to me, and in that case, I think it should be made more obvious.

Charts based on your OWN review, not collective

Allow charts based on one’s own review only and not the collective tags on that book. For example, if in my review of a book, I check the Mood “dark” but that’s not a commonly-used Mood in the books’ collective reviews, I may still want to see that selection in my charts. This would apply to Mood and Pace mainly.

More intelligent progress type selection

Just a thought, but when you're entering your progress on a book you're currently reading, if the book edition is "digital", can you make the progress automatically chose percent, rather than pages? Since e-books don't really have consistent pages, depending on font size and such, it would be nice if it defaulted to percent read instead.

Thanks!

Recommend Local Bookshops!

Would be great to be able to add local bookshops to our profiles. :)

Books not added to challenges

I'd love to be able to sort my books in order to see which ones I forgot to add to challenges.

I know that I can go through my read books manually to see, but so far this year, that's 238 books and a lot of times that list is so long that the page won't load. The other option would be to load only 10 or 20 books at a time and then go to a new page if I haven't found it yet.

Current reads scroll feature

I think a scroll over feature on the main page in the compact current reads layout would be nice, because I tend to read more than 3 books at once, and when I want to update a book that I am reading but it is not showing I have to click view all button. I just thought it would be nice to be able to scroll over like you can with the to-read pile and the recommendations, sections on the homepage of the app.

See Star Rating as a Grouping

I'd love to be able to select multiple star-ratings (like 4 stars and higher) rather than having to go in and view each separately (i.e viewing 4, 4.25, 4.5, and 5). For me, 4 stars and higher, I'd recommend to others so I'd like to be able to see all of those options at once. And it'd be nice to be able to sort these (highest to lowest rating or date read maybe) :)

Make it easier to follow someone using a link

When someone provides their storygraph profile some websites like instagram or tiktok open their own browser and they make you sign in before viewing the profile. I feel like the page should show the profile instead of making you sign in, then allow us to open the profile instead app.

owned books as tags

Could the "owned books" also work as a tag? So we could also have graphics for the owned books

Sort challenge books with completed at the bottom

I use a personal challenge to keep up with my book club books, and it’s growing cumbersome to have to scroll and scroll past my completed books to get to the newest unread at the bottom. I wish I could easily sort the opposite direction with the newest adds at the top and the oldest at the bottom. It’s too cumbersome to try to reorder them constantly.

Social Media-Like Community Feed

I’d love to see a community feed feature similar to Fable's, where users can share their reviews and reading updates. But also post things like book lists, photos of current reads, book hauls, and even links to YouTube videos or blog posts. Essentially, a space where users can treat their feed like an Instagram/twitter combined timeline but focused on books—creating a more interactive and engaging experience for the bookish community. The idea of being able to delete all my other "social" media accounts and just focus on one book-themed platform is everything that I want!

Continuous Barcode Scanning

I love the new cover-scanning feature, but it’s quite slow when cataloging hundreds of books. A dedicated ISBN barcode scanner mode for rapid, continuous scanning would be a fantastic addition! Being able to scan and add 50 books by barcode first, then review the editions on the shelf afterward, would be much faster than selecting and checking each book individually and reopening the camera each time.

New barcode scanner or scanning audiobook covers and information

I love that we’re going to have an option to scan. The book covers to input information. I hope this system includes the ability to put in information for audiobooks from different platforms, like audible and others. I have attached a screenshot of the type of scan that I would like to be able to use.

Scan books with book spine
Shipped

Hello! Love the work you've done with the barcode scanner and being able to scan covers now! I wanted to ask how difficult it would be to tweak it so that users can add their books using the book spine? Totally understandable if it is too complex or technically infeasible, but it would be amazingly helpful to add owned books by just scanning the spines of books on the shelf instead of having to pull each of them out manually!

Challenge Recommendation based on book reading

When I look at a book, I'd like to see the challenges it has been added to so I can read those books and join those as well.

Also, AI does book recommendations it could also do challenge recommendations.

Accidental taps when aiming for first pub date.

On a book’s page when tapping on the first pub date to expand the info, sometimes the author’s name is accidentally tapped, sending you to the author’s page. Even when trying to carefully tap the first pub date it can be difficult to not tap the author instead. This is notice on iOS version of TSG.
