This would be a great feature - was just coming along to suggest it as some non-fiction I've been reading is very personal and not something I particularly want 'out there'.
Is there any update on a timeline for this? Previously it was said this might happen in 2024, but it's still in the medium term category so just wondering if there are plans to do this in 2025?

Curious if there are any updates on this? I would love the opportunity to keep my entire reading journal private but also love the idea of just select books. āHide on reading journalā or something similar?

Just stopping by to say that this would definitely add a lot to the user experience. As others have said, there are books that are a bit more personal to me and I don't want everyone in my circle know that I'm reading them. Currently, I just leave those books out of StoryGraph entirely, but this mess up things like the streak system, reading goals, statistics, and pretty much every other features of SG. For instance, if there's a book I want to read privately, I have to make sure to also read another non-private book just so that I meet my streak and reading goal. Would love to see a per-book privacy setting option soon.
I am really hoping this gets moved up from medium term to a more imminent category!

nika_reads thank you for adding this!! it would also be nice to have the option of excluding certain friends possibly? almost like a close friends feature that allows people to see everything youāre reading! but not sure how practical that is

I am glad this is on the radar! Wanted to add that it would be cool to be able to designate as "private" not only individual books, but also entire tags. For example, I have a "fanfic" tag for all the fanfiction I read, and while I do want to count those in stats overall, I would rather they be excluded from any title-visible spots, like the shortest/longest/first/last slots in the year roundup stats page and other similar stuff.

Yes yes yes!!! Came to request this but found this idea in here already :) ā would love to be able to mark a read as private and still track it in the system until Iām ready for people to see it (itās a bookstagram thing haha)

I'd love this, especially like for when I want to start reading pregnancy books etc. I'd want to track those but also like not have those visible to people until I want them to be!
