Filtering To-Read Pile by 'added to my reading challenges' results in some books that are not in reading challenges

When I filter my To-Read Pile by 'added to my reading challenges', I get results showing books in my reading challenges as well as books that are not. It's unclear what this is actually filtering by.

I think this was discussed somewhere. I remember the answer being that it's looking at your challenges and ALL of the books added to the challenge, not just the ones you personally added. The rationale I remember is that it was meant to work like a discovery tool rather than a filtering tool.

blewballoon Yes, that's how it was set up back when the app had fewer than 100 users! We're open to changing how it works though people find benefit from how it currently is as well.

In any case, merging this post into the already-existing one on this.

blewballoon Oh, interesting. That was confusing, but at least now I know how it really works and it isn't a bug. Thank you!

Nadia Thanks, Nadia. I can see how using it as a discovery tool would be helpful. I would also love to be able to only see the books that I personally added to my own reading challenges: I was basically just trying to decide which book to read next, and my criteria was 1) a book I had already selected for reading challenges, and 2) short number of pages so I can build some good momentum now at the start of the year. :-) The To-Read Pile allows sorting by length, so I thought, "oh, perfect!" ...and then saw all these other books and was confused. lol

keniasedler I worked around this by creating a tag for reading challenges. I had one for 2023 called "2023-challenge" and when I added a book to a challenge I would also tag it. Then you can use the tag when you are filtering your TBR.

blewballoon Thank you! I hadn't explored the tag feature yet, and that does fit the bill for the perfect workaround to achieve what I wanted. Thanks!!

Maybe we need two options: "I've added to my RCs", "Others have added to my RCs"
