I'm trying to set up forums in a new Readalong right now. I create one, save, and I'm taken back to the main page as expected. However, when I tap on the "+ New Forum" button, I see the info from the previous one that I just set up, and I have to drag to refresh before the form clears. This is on the android app, if that makes a difference!
Most of the time when I scan a books barcode it reads the isbn 13 incorrectly. I eventually have to manually enter.
I read a lot of literary magazines and some of them are available on Storygraphy, specifically Clarkesworld and Uncanny. But searching "Clarkesworld Issue 211," for example, never turns up that issue. I usually have to scroll through all of the issues to find the one I'm looking for.
This is a little bit hard to explain but I've been seeing it a lot lately with the mass tagging that I've been doing.
This is much less of a big deal when I'm working through 500+ books remaining, but it becomes a struggle when I get near the end of a tagging endeavor. I will think that I am done, because I get to what appears to be the bottom of the list. But then when I refresh the filter, just to make sure, there are often many books that just didn't appear when the infinite scroll loaded. I have to repeat this process many times in order to actually be completed with tagging. It seems like there might be something going wrong with the infinite scroll that it skips seemingly ten-ish books at a time when it is loading.
(argh, the screenshots ended up out of order! hopefully it is clear which ones go where based on the description of the repro steps!)
When I try to look at the books I've read for this year's challenge, it will only show me 10. When I try to look at prompts for the baseline challenge, it will only show me 10. When I try to look at prompts for the baseline diverse book challenge, it only shows me 10.
I own a physical book but read the audiobook version of it but when I go to my owned book stats the physical book shows up as unread.
Issue: on 3/20/24 I got a notification letting me know the book I tried to add via import was complete. I tried to add this book probably 3-5 months ago and am just now getting the notice after I've already manually added the book a while back, had it on my shelves, etc.
short term Rec: if there's no immediate match, or if it doesn't happen within a few days, maybe send a notification that's like "we couldn't find this book, but will keep searching and let you know if it gets added!" so it's less jarring.
long term rec: any way to track the history of books you've tried to import via ISBN / title would be great so it's easier to remember and see where they're at.
Issue: Running into an issue where the book will say "missing pub info" but then when expanded it has all of the information. This prevents it from displaying in order when sorting books by publication date.
Cause: In the book edit, the original publication date is set to 0, which seems to cause the issue as once I updated it, it loaded correctly and showed in the sorted results as expected.
Reco: only show "missing pub info" alert when the fields that display under it are incomplete for that edition. ISBN, format, language, publisher, date published.
I don't know if it's a me problem, but it always takes a long time to open the app (a problem that stands across devices), which often makes me change my mind on using it
I set up a custom chart with breakdowns of books by pages. It looks like the numbers are showing up in the graph right, but when I click on a section, it takes me to all the books. So, for example, I have a section set to over 550 pages and it says I've read 1 book, but when I click the section, it takes me to a list of all 61 books I've read in 2024, though it still has the name of the slice at the top of the page.
When setting up the comparison of TBR vs All Time, the All time switches to current year after clicking compare. All Time vs TBR works ok.
Browser: Chrome Version 122.0.6261.95
The iOS app logs me out way too frequently. I would love not to have to log in about every other day.
Adding hyperlinks feature is broken, after highlighting my text, clicking the hyperlink icon, and typing in my link i click on the 'Link' (next to 'Unlink') button, with no dice :( it just keeps flashing
Clicking on the "Add Comment" on one of my current buddy reads, and the entire discussion section then disappears and says "Content Missing" in bold type. This happens both on mobile and on a laptop
Not sure that this is necessarily a bug, just a little frustrating. I just went through adding ~30 books to a challenge and then reached one that I couldn't find. I clicked the "Can't find a book? Add it" and then realized I had typed the title slightly wrong. When I went back to correct it and add it to the challenge, everything was deleted. So now I have to start over with entering all of the books again.
The list of problems I'm having with the revised recs keeps getting longer. The stubborn insistence on putting books that EXACTLY match details in my prefeences survey into "outside my comfort zone" is getting tiresome. As is "based on your survey" recs that clearly aren't Add to that the persistent problem of recs showing up ONLY on my homepage and being quite literally impossible to find anwhere else and thus impossible to delete, and the recs are indeed wrecks. And now, a blast from the past, a problem I last had with the recs several years ago - offering me a book in German, which is NOT in my list of languages in my preferences. My experience of the revised recs is that the AI has gone HAL - ignoring everything I've filled in the preferences and trying to foist books of no interest at all - unless I check "outside my comfort zone". this is not what I pay for.
When I try to scroll through my TBR it only shows 10 books and does not load any more. This happens on both the app and the browser. I have 400+ on my TBR and can no longer scroll through them.
I'm doing a big data update in my StoryGraph right now because I decided that I want "Owned" to not just be for physical books on my shelf, but to also be for books in my audiobook and ebook library.
I looked at my Owned stats and clicked into the DNF wedge. I'm seeing multiple books in there that are marked as "Read." It seems to be that the following is happening:
IF I have one edition marked as "Owned" and "Read", AND I have a second edition marked as "Not owned" and "DNF", it still shows up in the DNF stats even though it is not the "Owned" edition that got DNFed. I double and triple checked that these DNF editions were not marked as "Owned", and in every case
It also looks like the same books are showing up in the "Read" stats as well (as they should). Second screenshot shows that same book in the list for "Read" books. When I add up the wedges in the pie chart, it says I have 226 total books, but the number up at the top is 216. I only counted 7 erroneous DNFs so I'm not sure where the extra 3 are coming from.
I exported my StoryGraph data but when opening the file, the ISBN column had excel errors for most of the entries. I opened both with and without converting the data for leading zeroes, and both resulted in this. I was able to fix it by changing the column type to "Number" but not sure if that's something ya'll can dictate in the export as it was definitely confusing for a while! This might be an excel .csv file issue though so maybe this just closes out.
When viewing friends’ reviews and interactions with a book, spoiler text is not hidden. When I click on the review the text is properly hidden.
when I own multiple editions of one book, sometimes the owned book list shows two of the same editions and not the second edition I own
When I am logged in and choose the roadmap button at the bottom of the home page, a new window opens up (great) but for some reason I'm not logged in and have to do it again to report bugs.
When I use the advanced search in recommendations, it doesn't produce any results. It just sends me back to the recommendations page telling me that there was an error.
