iPad search not usable in portrait mode

When using the storygraph app on an iPad the search field is barely usable as it is. Due to its very small width, you cannot see what you are typing in it nor the results for your search

Nadia I tried the same search as in the screenshot above and I can see a bit more of the first title. I can see "The Seven Husband.." as opposed to "The Seven..."
maxcarwile Would you rather it defaulted to have the search bar take up the whole top and have the menu items collapsed into the hamburger menu at that point?
Nadia I feel that being able to see this much more of the results is helpful enough for me, so I don't have strong feelings on further changes. I really appreciate your work on this!

vaz_ar With this app, you have to click their attachment icon and upload from your file browser for it to work. In any case , would you rather it defaulted to have the search bar take up the whole top and have the menu items collapsed into the hamburger menu at that point?
Also, what type/size of iPad do you have?
Nadia I just checked, I have an iPad Mini (5th generation, 7.9-inch diagonal apparently). My personal preference would be for it to be the same as on my Android phone, where the search bar takes the full width. (I managed to upload the screenshot, that is what I currently see on my iPad).
vaz_ar Oh, can you please force quit and try again? With my changes, the "Home" icon shouldn't be visible and the search bar should take up that space. (Funnily enough, I'm trying to attach an image myself, but I'm on a train and the signal isn't great!)
Nadia Hi, I just tried, forced quit, even restarted my iPad to see if it changed anything, but I do not see any changes, the search field still has the same width, and I still see the icon and the 'home' text
vaz_ar It's meant to be like the attached - that's what I see with my iPad Mini simulator — but I'll make it full width in any case. When I did it before, people complained that I collapsed the menu too early before, but I reckon it'll be fine this time around.
Nadia I have checked again today, it still looks like my last screenshot, not like yours, sorry.
