Our (new, recent) policy, as a way to manage this space as it grows, is to group together suggestions that are the same/incredibly similar (copying over anything different and yet relevant) so that all comments and votes can be in one place.

Before removing, we comment on the story to inform the poster what the plan is, giving them time to comment or discuss it with us before any changes are made.

Therefore, at the very least, you should have received an email approximately 24 hours in advance.
