Search issues

I've been noticing some pretty strong search issues, where it will show a book when the title is partially complete, only to then have it completely disappear if you type the full word. I've provided two screenshots: I was looking for "The Spice Gate" and when I only had "the spice ga" it was the top of the list, but when I had "the spice gate" it wasn't there at all, I went down about 20 books and could not find it. This seems like the opposite of what should happen!

I've noticed this consistently and it makes searching quickly very annoying
This is still a major issue 6 months later
I’ve noticed this too and it’s a little crazy making 🥴
Thank you for the feedback. I've got some tweaks to do with the search algorithm and we'll also have an advanced search, with the option to specify exact title. In the meantime, when searching please keep typing to add in any part of the author's name if a book you want isn't coming up/has fallen out of the search results.
Nadia Instead of making another thread, I thought I'd sneak in an comment here - This is still an issue. I read a lot of indie books and SG keep making me believe they're not in the database because when I search the EXACT book name it often does not show up and it often shows me books that doesn't have what I searched for in their title.
peridotdot Thank you for not making another thread. I've still not fixed this and we still need to have an advanced search option. In the meantime, what happens when you start typing part of the author's name?
Nadia The author always works without issue. It is only book titles that the search struggles with for me.
(As long as you enter space after writing that is, I've seen that issue also listed. The search bar sometimes being slow so it cuts off your last letter written when you click enter)
peridotdot Okay, well, I haven't done any work on this since so I wouldn't have expected any improvement just yet. Sorry for the trouble!
Nadia Oh no problem! I think you're doing a great job and you work hard! I was just being accurate in my response in case that data was valuable.
