Dark Mode is finally here!!! π₯³ π
Be sure to update your apps first to get the full experience!
On the Preferences page you can toggle the "Theme" setting to "Dark", "Light" or "System", with "System" being the default!

Very excited for this! I have everything in dark mode as it helps with my chronic migraines, so I am excited you're adding this accessibility feature.

Excited that this is coming soon!

Just adding a vote for dark mode. Love the app. Dark mode would make me love it more! π
Oh yes please! I make everything dark mode that I possibly can! It makes it a bit jarring when I have to go into an app without it.
art_books_chemistry I especially struggle with it because I often update my book status at the end of the day so my husband is asleep and white background is punching my eyes when everything else has already flicked in to dark mode.
raidingbookshelves YES! Same. I'll read in bed on super low brightness and then go to update SG before falling asleep.
I really love the app! Are you any closer to providing a dark mode or at least something less bright? The contrast to my other dark apps is quite extreme.
vivelelivre The plan is to get our Dark Mode out this year! π€πΎ
One more vote for dark mode! It would so much more accessible
Love it! Would be cool to have not just dark mode, but maybe "not white" mode? more like a sepia or cream as well?
Hooray, looking forward to it!
A dark mode would be great, but please don't make the background black, the contrast to a white font would be much too high. Make it a dark grey instead.
Something like Discord's dark mode would be perfect.
One of the reasons we haven't done this yet is because we'd do it properly, which involves design work. We wouldn't just make the background black or invert the colours!
For example, the main text on StoryGraph is not black, it's a dark grey! :-D
Can't wait. I'll never convince my husband to join me here for a buddy read (yeah we're weird and have internet conversations even though we live together lol) here if there isn't dark mode.
Hehe β the buddy read with the husband makes complete sense to me!
Yes please! We have a newborn and Iβm often up in the middle of the night with her, so I try to read and would love to use dark mode on TSG to log my progress.
Happy to see this feature getting attention! Thanks, Nadia!
We hope to address it in the next few months!
Agree with @fallenfeathers. Dark mode isnβt just aesthetic itβs about having an accessible user experience. Thereβa a large group of potential users who have to opt out because dark mode is more accessible.
I hope this can be moved quicker down the chain of todos because there's a ton of people in my communities who are waiting for this specific feature to convert from GR to TSG. TSG could be the first of the two platforms to add this, which would be a HUGE draw for the undecided folks and a lasting retainer for all current and future catches.
Thanks for letting us know!
Personally I like Twitter's option of Dark mode or Dim mode. Maybe that could be a think, too?
I've seen some apps have three options for Dark Mode: On, Off, System. We'll probably go with that! :-)
Something that would be nice to have for dark mode would be to check what the user has enabled in the system settings to automatically display darkmode with CSS.
