A new update has just gone live. We're constantly updating and shipping new versions of the Recommendations Engine, if you haven't refreshed your recommendations in a while, now is a good time!

The next iteration of our stats dashboard is coming soon. There'll be new addition for both free and Plus users, the latter of which will form the bulk of the transitioning of Plus to an "Advanced Stats" package.

There are some types of reading material logged on StoryGraph that aren't traditional books (e.g. fanfiction, literary journals, etc.).

These types of formats need to be handled differently to a regular book in the product but we still want to give our users the ability to track them if they'd like to.

We are working on a set of features that'll better reflect the nature of these types of reading material in the app!

With the success of our January Pages Challenge, people have been asking if there is a way that it could continue for the rest of the year.

We think that the best way to give people the same motivation they currently have to read a little bit every single day is to offer the option to turn on a reading streak — each day that you mark some reading progress in the app, your streak will go up! Miss a day, and you'll be reset to 0.

This will be opt-in so as not to stress out anybody not interested in this!

We're planning on providing a way for anybody to buy a Plus subscription for their friends or family members!

We’re thinking of adding in the ability to comment on your StoryGraph's friends’ reading updates and/or reviews (if your friends have commenting turned on!).

There’ll be settings for comments. So you’ll be able to have StoryGraph friends, but commenting disabled (which will be the default).

What do you think?

Users will be able to start buddy reads (essentially mini one-off book clubs) with other users.

The ability for anybody to invite you to a buddy read will be opt-in, and you'll be able to toggle between friends, people you follow, or anybody inviting you.

We're still fleshing out what V1 will look like and we welcome any ideas for this!

Users on The StoryGraph will soon be able to add friends (if you opt in to this feature. The ability for anybody to send you a friend request will be turned off by default)!

With friends, you'll mutually follow one another (you'll also be able to unfollow somebody, whilst still being friends with them) and you'll be able to use the "friends only" setting on a bunch of existing and upcoming community features, e.g. following, buddy reads, and book clubs.

V1 will include the ability to send a friend request, toggle following and friend settings, and see a list of all of your friends.

We're also working on some News Feed improvements alongside rolling out this concept.

Similar Books are now more varied every time you submit a request.

Recommendations are now more varied every time you run them.

Similar to when we're filtering by genre and we can hit 'include any' or 'include all', this feature would be useful when searching read or to-read lists by tags! For example if I wanted to search for both my audio and library tag at once, and only have books tagged with both (or more) of those show up. At the moment searching for audio and library also brings up my bought audiobooks. :-)

We're now working on the next version of the stats dashboard!

We'll be sorting through months of feedback (including items within this roadmap) in order to figure out what the changes will be.

We haven't yet fleshed out what the feature set will be, and it'll evolve over time, but we reckon it'll include some mechanisms for selecting books, setting a meeting, seeing a history of books the group has read and what everyone thought, and more!

We've deployed a lot of great features, but not everyone enjoys the full effect of them. That could be because of poor design in places, a tricky user flow, something being hidden, etc.

We're taking some time to review your most painful experiences and address them to make the app even more of a joy to use!

Post below with any pain points you've noticed with the current design/setup, including screenshots where you have them! Please do point out design niggles/nitpicks also, however big or small!

This isn't about adding new features! This is about polishing/improving what's already there!

We don't currently have the concept of 'last name' in our system, but since most people expect the author sort to work this way, and would find it more useful, especially in bookstores, we need to change the current implementation.

An Application Programming Interface (API) for people/developers to hook StoryGraph data into their own websites or build their own apps on top of our platform.
