Users on The StoryGraph will soon be able to add friends (if you opt in to this feature. The ability for anybody to send you a friend request will be turned off by default)!

With friends, you'll mutually follow one another (you'll also be able to unfollow somebody, whilst still being friends with them) and you'll be able to use the "friends only" setting on a bunch of existing and upcoming community features, e.g. following, buddy reads, and book clubs.

V1 will include the ability to send a friend request, toggle following and friend settings, and see a list of all of your friends.

We're also working on some News Feed improvements alongside rolling out this concept.
