Ability to Filter Community Feed

I searched through other posts and didn't see this specifically, so I thought I would add it!

I would love the ability to choose what I see when I go to community feed (regardless of whether I am looking at entire community, people I follow, similar readers, etc). So I could say "show me books added to TBR and books reviewed or Books reviewed with text review". That would clean up the feed and make it easier to navigate through.

I agree! For example I just want to see when the users I'm following have finished a book or posted a review. The feed is very cluttered otherwise.

Would also be nice if my own updates wasn't on in my feed... I already know what I'm doing :-)

I suspect this also fits here: I would love to filter one or more specific friends in the feed. Right now, I can search for a user, but I only get their summary. I would like to search for a user and see their latest updates, for example when I check out what my real-life friends have read before our next book club meeting.

I would love to remove certain genres/categories of books from my community feed. Example: Someone I follow reads a lot of manga, which I'm not interested in at all. But since those are so short, of course they read a lot of them and it clutters my feed. But I still want to see the other books they are reading.

Either a sorting feature or the option to decide what I always/never want to see would be great.
To be honest I don't care at all what people add to their up next, it just clutters my community feed and prevents me from playing with my up next because I don't want to annoy others. So something in the preferences would be great, like "do you want to see up next updates? Yes/only from friends/only from users I follow/never" (and same thing for "started reading" etc.)

Nadia thanks, that's a great idea too. But I'd also like the ability to not see other people's up-next updates. I use the community tab to read reviews - I don't care what others plan in reading, to me it just makes it harder to find the reviews between everything else.
(I'm not criticising the way the community feed works in general, I'd just like to be able to alter it to my personal preferences 😉)

lalu Oh, I read and understood your point. I just misremembered what that other post was referring to. I thought it was exactly the same and now I've reread it and see it's not. Sorry! Either way — my comment on that post still fits: we'll have customisation options, both on what is shared and what you see.

(Edit: The reason we share Up Next to the News Feed is our middle ground for those that have requested we add in seeing any time someone they follow adds a book to their To-Read. We didn't want to do that, worried about it cluttering up the feed, so we figured we can at least show people what their friends want to read soon.)

lalu And even if you were criticising how the community feed works in general, that wouldn't be a problem. 😊

Thanks for these suggestions. Good things to keep in mind for when I make the News Feed better/smarter!
