would love this! even if they dont have an account claimed on storygraph, if we can follow their work as new works get published

I like to create a list if upcoming books to be published and it would be helpful to follow these authors since I usually can’t add the books to my “to read” list since they usually aren’t in the database.

This would be great, but I understand why author pages need to happen first - I wouldn’t want to get alerts when someone accidentally creates a duplicate entry of an existing book.
I wonder if alerts for pub dates of books on my To Read Pile or an opt-in for books with future pub dates could work separately (saw some other asks for this per-book feature getting redirected to this one).

kotroby Hello! It's not a priority right now. We need to sort author pages first, which we hope to do early this year.

This idea has a lot of feature buildup capacity as well, since you can also associate tagging with authors when it comes to writing style, themes, etc.

This feature is the only reason why I keep my goodreads account. Every month you get an email what new books from authors you have read will come out the next month. Something similar would be great and also the possibility to mark some authors so that you don't get notifications for them.

this is huge for me too — the only comprehensive place I’ve found to track authors is within Amazon (their author follows feature) and a big part of the appeal of storygraph for me is getting away from Amazon/Goodreads and to consolidate these sorts of lists/tracking within a single service

This one is huge for me. This need is actually what had my start checking out all the various book sites and apps last year. I've found a site that will do it for me, but I'd love to have this as part of the The Story Graph.
