I'd love to be able to add reading without it being connected to a particular book. This would be super useful for me in situations where I'm re-reading old comics I have from the early 2000s, where I don't want to enter every individual comic (both because that would be a ton of work and would ruin my stats for the year), but I'd still like to have a record of the reading I did.
Or maybe as an alternative, having the ability to make a custom me-specific book that I could title "Amazing Spider-Man" or something and use it as a catch-all to track any time I read any of those comics (using journal entries maybe to track the specific issues I read at various times). I suppose I could technically do this now, but I wouldn't want to create a book that doesn't actually exist and clutter the database for everyone else!
@augustjune @jaina8851 I'm a volunteer librarian, and we do sometimes see "catch-all" entries to track non-traditional book pages read. You can definitely add a record like you've suggested - just make sure to write something in the blurb to indicate what you've done. Because your entry won't be "published" to the database, it won't be public/visible to other users (except for librarians/admin), so no need to worry about clutter!
Could be useful to log long-form fanfiction as well. I got down on myself for not reading a lot in 2020 and then was like "oh, you DID read that 200k+ word fic though..."
