Ability to Read Portions of Books Without Starting from Page 1
Sep 23, 2022
I do a LOT of reading in graduate school, and often my professors will assign specific portions or chapters from a book without assigning the entire book. It would be awesome if I could log pages read without having to start from page 1 of a book.
For example, I might have 300 pages of reading over the course of a semester that come from 15 different books, and none of that counts towards my reading goals since I'm not able to record sections of pages read. If I need to read page 247-280 for class, I can't add it to my StoryGraph tracking because I'm not reading pages 1-247 as well! (Hopefully this makes sense!)

Hello! I believe you can recreate this effect by marking a book as read directly, and then editing the "Finished" journal entry. I've attached a screenshot showing what this might look like. It's not ideal, but it's a way to at least get the pages tracked!
Nadia Thanks for sharing this! Won't that falsely inflate the number of books read? Could I do the same thing, but mark the book DNF instead?
tidybookshelf Ahh, I thought you wanted it to count. But yes, you can just do it for DNF instead. :-D
Nadia Yeah, I want the pages I read to count, but not the whole book since I didn't read the whole thing. Thanks so much!
Thank you! This is such an amazing idea and I wish I had thought of it myself. I know my stats would look so much better if I could include all the chapters I read without reading the entire book.
