Author Search- filter

When I look at a book by an author, I often click on their name to see what other books by them I might also be interested in. However, this often leads to a TON of results that are not the author's books, or are huge compilation books. This is often not at all what I am looking for; I want books written by that person, period.

I understand that other people might love to look at all the books the author has touched, but I am uninterested in collab books with 15 authors contributing to it. Also, sometimes inexplicably, something very much not by the author (in this case, Villette by Charlotte Bronte) will show up under the author search. I'd also like to be able to filter out articles the author has written that show up as 11 page user-added books.

Solutions welcomed!

One thought is that collaboration books are somehow able to be separated out from "normal" (for lack of a better adjective) novels, and that there's potentially a filter available when looking at these search results.

I use this feature alllll the time and this is constantly a little thorn in using it.

Sometimes the book is connected to an author, but when I find it, that author only wrote a forward or blurb for another author's book. It would be nice to have a way to call that out and filter those works out of the author search list. Would also like a filter for multiple authors where the search author is just one of many; this would also help get feedback when non-authors are listed.
Lastly I wish all the search option had a not option so I could filter them both in or out of the results. Like the filter option "not in my To-Read Pile" would be way more useful if it were "To-Read Pile" with a three-way switch for off, only, and not.

Completely agree. In addition I just want to be able to sort and filter in general when I am looking up an author. Read versus unread would be nice, but also being able to filter on publication year and genre or demographic. Some authors write over multiple demographics, for instance adult and middle grade, but I am only interested in one.

Yes, I would love to be able to sort and filter by release date but also by read status. I like to track authors I'm reading from for the first time and it would be awesome to not have to scroll through the whole list of things they've touched to see if I've read something from them before.

Seconding this as well! Especially the bit about the compilation/collections where the author contributed one story

I'll just add to this instead of making a new post. I too would love to be able to sort/filter when I click an author's name. Publication date, read/TBR/unread etc.

Very much second this! Would also really like to be able to sort or filter the list of an author’s work, so that I can sort by release date or filter by language.
