I love the calendar feature and being able to visually see what I have been reading and for how long is such a good addition to the app.
At the moment the colours on the calendar can be quite similar and a little murky, whilst it’s great these are being pulled from the cover it can mean some of the colours are really similar making it a little tricky to distinguish which book is which. I wonder if visually the lines being thicker and positioned slightly differently could also ease this.
The other thing I have noticed is if I finish more than one book on a day that both covers are not visible. For example on my one for January I finished 2 books on the 3rd but can only see one cover.
I absolutely love this feature and having this view, it would be great if any of the above could be reviewed/considered.
Merged into related post about line colours. Stacked covers were an intentional design decision after trying a bunch of things. We'll likely iterate on other things in the future.
Re: the covers stacking on top of each other, I wish that they were more evenly distributed. I read an absurd amount of books in December 😅 (so thicker lines really wouldn't work for me lol) and for some of the multi-finish days, you can easily see that there were two books even though you couldn't see the entirety of both covers (e.g. Dec 11) but on other days, the covers were so closely stacked that it almost looks like one cover (e.g. Dec 21, 29, and 31). It seems to be related to what the vertical position is of an individual book's progress bar, because even on days when there are only one finished book, they aren't vertically centered. I feel like it would help a lot for them to be vertically aligned/distributed evenly within the rectangle of the day so you can maximize the visual info.
I agree! I absolutely love the calendar, but I wish that the lines were more aesthetically pleasing. Maybe there could be an option for you to either choose nice colours, such as pastels, or use the colour from the cover of the book? It’s my favourite feature of the app, but I just wish it looked a little prettier. Frustrating that the book covers were on top of each other for you too. Fingers crossed they can get this sorted
