Counting collections/anthologies volumes as more than one book

Option to count large books that are a collection of series as multiple books towards the yearly reading challenge. For example, Douglas Adam’s ‘Hitchhiker’s Guide - A Trilogy in Five Parts’ could be counted as 5 books instead of 1

Update by Nadia (7th Sep 24): Updated title to make the ask clearer

Being able to specify which books are in an anthology should also help count towards challenges correctly. Like if you've read the entirety of "The Complete Novels of Jane Austen" you will have 0/6 for a Jane Austen challenge. I care about my storygraph stats enough that I actually avoid anthologies on entirely this basis.

Very much need this. Having an omnibus of 3 or 4 novels, and deciding how to count them is really annoying. I don't... know how to fix it necessarily... but I think it needs addressing.

Don't even care about the book count - I just want to be able to read one novel of a 3 novel bind-up without having to DNF or find another addition with the same number of pages. e.g. I have an "of mice and men/the pearl" bind-up - I have read M&M 4 or 5 times and the pearl 2 times.

This would be super helpful especially for editions like those issued by Library of America for authors like Faulkner, Didion, PKD (for example).

Yes! I bought a couple "Complete Collection of X" e-books when they went on sale and have been putting them off in favour of books where my effort will be better reflected in my reading goal.

Yes to all of this! I have the ebook of The Last Lion - it's a three volume Winston Churchill biography. Each volume is around 1,000 pages, so the ebook is 3,000 pages and is counted as one book!

It would also be nice if we could individually review each book in the collection rather than the collection as a whole and then that group of reviews would be averaged for the collection as a whole.

Yes, I encountered this reading the 'Aya' series. Six individual comics were bundled into 2 collections.
