Track international reading

I was thinking, wouldn't it be great if you could also track international reading. I mean, get statistics on which country the books you are reading are from. You could visualize this in a map of the world with the countries you have read books from coloured in. Like a scratch-your travel map, but for books. It could motivate people to read more diversely, i think. You would need nationality information on the author, which is probably more complicated than it sounds and an extra layer to add to all the existing info (although I did notice author stats were already on the roadmap for the long term ;) ) but I think it would be super cool.

I am very interested in this as well, and if what was feasible was just "country of first publication" (earliest edition, country of ISBN issue) that would still be very useful. It would obviously exclude diasporic fiction, or authors first published outside their own country, but it would be meaningful.
Hey Anne! This would be very cool, but you're right that there's a lot of work that goes into stats like this. Ideally we'd need input from the authors themselves to avoid making potentially harmful or offensive mistakes!
