DNF journal and reviews

At the moment, accessing journal entries is through the 'read dates' link, which is not accessible for DNF unless you've read the book before or after DNF-ing. In order to access them, you need to go to the journal entries via your profile. Would it be possible to have a link to journal entries from the main work page? (Also, perhaps regardless of edition?)

Further, would it be inappropriate to give DNF the same questionnaire as the reviews? I can understand reluctance if you haven't finished a book, things can change, but I think it might have value all the same. Maybe not.

Thanks! (The new colors and slightly adjusted layout looks very nice on desktop. ::big eyes::)

Ah yes, I spotted this myself while doing the redesign! Must figure that out!

Not sure about expanding DNF reviews just yet. Wary of people influencing the main reviews when they haven't finished the book, but perhaps they can be on the review, but not included in final summary. Will think about it.

Nadia Maybe a separate comments/reviews for users who did not finish to indicate why they didn't finish?

If I'm reading through DNR reviews, I would be interested in hearing thoughts from DNR-ers on: Author's writing style, just not into the genre, didn't like characters, didn't find the plot engaging, glaring plot holes etc.

Basically allow someone skimming through to determine whether they are interested in reading the review ("not into the genre" - skippable, "found author's writing style incredibly boring/tedious" I want more information), and similarly, if I'm leaving a comment/review on why I DNR'd, I could see myself leaving this information, likely for myself in the future, if not to help others.

nackereia Hello — do you mean a different type of structured review? Because we do have a way for you to add an explanation of why you didn't finish a book, but it's just a free-text box, with no prompts. What I need to work on is having a clear visual indicator of DNF reviews and allow people to filter to only written reviews!
