DNF stat

It would be cool if in addition to "books with no rating" we had a section of books we DNF'd. I think there's a huge difference between books we read but didn't rate and books we didn't finish/got a chance to rate for that reason. I don't like how my stats look like I don't rate books because my DNFs take over.

Hello! I'm not sure what you're asking for. Have you looked at your DNF Stats (by toggling the dropdown up top)? Or have you seen your list of DNF books, via the Read Books page?

Nadia Hi there! Sorry for the confusion!! What I meant was, when we're viewing our all-time stats, under the star rating category; in order it goes from books with no ratings to 5 star ratings. Books we DNF are under "no ratings" automatically and I thought it would be helpful if we had a distinction between books we actually finished but didn't rate, and books we DNF, which automatically have no rating.

coralinejones Oh! I didn't realise DNF books showed up there, because they don't in more drilled down views (as you've identified in your comment above). They shouldn't show up there at all! I think I'm going to remove them so that that section matches up to other areas of the app! Let me know if you object.

Nadia Do books with "No Rating" actually show up in that column at all right now? When I look at my All Time stats and click that column, it appears to be only DNFs. I was hoping to use it as a quick way to show me the books that I have read but forgot to rate, and I don't see any in there. I'd love for it to work that way, and for that column to show up on other Star Ratings charts other than just "all time"!

Nadia I like the idea of that tbh!

jaina8851 The column does show up on other views. The all-time one is broken and will be fixed.

Nadia Maybe I'm misunderstanding what it's supposed to do. For my 2024 stats, I've read 73 books, but the reviews chart only shows 70. I would have thought that 3 books would show up as "No Rating", but they're just missing from the chart. Is the idea that that column only appears if you've either clicked checkboxes and/or left a written review but NOT chosen a star rating? It would be really useful to me if it included all the books that I hadn't reviewed at all yet, so I could quickly use that column to find my unrated books rather than having to scroll through my Read list looking for them. Would that detract from the experience of people who are using it to know how many books they intentionally wrote a review for but did not star rate?

jaina8851 Yes, that chart is powered solely by reviews, not by read books in that time period. It looks for the books that don't have a star rating but otherwise do have a review. We could change it to include any read book as I doubt many people are leaving a review without a rating hoping to come back and add one — though, of course, I know some are — but it might be worth me double-checking this before the change is made. Even if it changes the experience for those people, I do think it'll be minimal, but you never know. I think I'll probably make the change and see how it plays out. It can always be reversed if there's a bigger issue I didn't foresee.
