Easier date accessibility for vintage books

I buy/collect a fair amount of vintage books from secondhand shops, and scrolling back to put in a date from 1983 or 1969 takes a really long time. Could the date add be an easier dropdown? Also, books only have the pub year, is a day and month always necessary?

I've had the same issue of only being able to find the publication year for old books, so have to leave the field blank because day and month are needed.

I’m using it on an iPhone 14 Pro (ios17), and there’s no way to type a date in the box, it makes me just tap the arrows to get back to the dates. Totally understand about the day/date bit, thanks!

historybooksandtea Do you ever click the arrow by "December 2023" so you can scroll to the year and month quickly? I just tried with 1969 — I have an iPhone 13 Pro — and it took me a couple (aggressive) swipes only.

Can you please screenshot the interface you're working with? You shouldn't have to scroll back. There should be a way to type in the day or click and then select from a more condensed list. Let me know!

And for now, yes, for edition dates a day and month is necessary. It's been a long topic of conversation and we might change that one day. However, you can just leave the edition date blank if you don't have one and focus on original publication year.
