Factoring Ratings Per Book Type and Read History into New Recommendations

The Recommendations feature is pretty good at finding books based on the info I provide in the questionnaire. But it's also hard to really pinpoint what I love and am looking for sometimes; I don't always know the vocabulary that would work best in the free text section. I'm not sure if it does this already, but it would be so helpful if it also factored in data from "Ratings per book type" and read history to learn more about what I like.

Although, one thing that may not be helpful about this is that in my "Ratings per book type" data, there may be a category that averages a 5.0 rating at the top of the chart, but when I click to view it, it's because I only read one or two books in that category and they happened to have a 5 star rating. It might be more helpful if it averaged in amount of books read rather than a simple average of star ratings.

Thanks for this suggestion!

Here's some reasoning behind why we do the raw averages for the ratings per book type feature: https://roadmap.thestorygraph.com/requests-ideas/posts/weighted-averages.

We also have plans to revamp UI/UX for how users get recommendations which we hope will take away the pain point of users not being sure what to put in the free text box but still provide high-quality, specific recommendations!
