I would like to suggest a new feature to enhance the user experience when managing book collections. The current column format, while functional, is not ideal for reviewing and organizing large collections. Here is a proposal for a grid view format, similar to the interface used in other collection solutions, which I believe would greatly benefit users:
Proposed Feature: Full Page Grid Format
Description:
Implement a full-page grid format for displaying book collections. This grid view would allow users to see their books in a more visually intuitive layout, making it easier to review and organize their collections.
Key Features:
Grid Layout: Display books in a grid format, showing book covers and key details such as title, author, and status (e.g., owned, to-read, currently reading).
Advanced Filtering and Search: Integrate robust filtering and search functionalities to allow users to quickly find books based on various criteria such as genre, author, reading status, and more.
Customizable Display Options: Allow users to customize the information displayed in the grid (e.g., book rating, date added) and the size of the book covers.
Batch Editing: Enable batch editing options to make it easier to update the status or details of multiple books at once.
Collection Organization: Provide tools for better organization, such as sorting by different attributes and creating custom collections or shelves.
Benefits:
Enhanced Usability: A grid format offers a more visual and user-friendly way to browse and manage large collections.
Improved Organization: Advanced filtering and search capabilities will help users quickly locate specific books and organize their collections more efficiently.
Customizability: Users can tailor the display to their preferences, enhancing their overall experience on the platform.
Visual Example:
Attached is an example image from Collectorz Comic Collecting software that illustrates the proposed grid layout. This layout allows for a clear and concise overview of a large collection, which can significantly improve the user experience when managing books.
Thank you for the post. We're definitely going to have a cover view and a more condensed list view, especially once we launch the All Books view. I'm not sure if there'll be a separate grid view. We'll see!
