Mostly a tool for Librarians to be able to add a book to several series. This as long running series tend to brach out in different “prongs” that are difficult to order relative to each other and makes reading order impossible to understand.
Also makes it possible to have both publication order and reading order for those authors that jumps around in their own timeline.
