I love the (limited to 5 items) up next queue - in fact it’s the feature I searched for that made me switch from Goodreads to StoryGraph.
Would be very interested in multiple up next queues though because at any given time, I like to be reading one non-fiction, one fiction, and one audiobook.
Ideally I would have queues for each such that when I finish, for instance, the novel I’m reading I just check out the fiction “up next” queue for my next read.
I see others sharing in this community that their patterns are the same and suspect if they could have an up next “comics” list and “manga” list and “Children’s book” list and “mystery” list etc, it would scratch a big itch.
Btw for me this is a classic example of where Goodreads failed and where you guys can differentiate - this is a feature that ties directly to dedicated book reader behavior (I find it so crazy that after 15 years there is still no way to manually sort Goodreads lists in their apps! What else does a dedicated reader really want than a way to keep track of what they hope to read NEXT?)
I love this idea; I was actually going to put in a request for more than 5 in the up next, but I think ultimately your idea is way better! I would do something very similar to what you're suggesting; for sure an up next non-fiction, and I might differentiate fiction into historical fiction and fantasy. I really love this idea :)
larobb01 Agreed. I really want more than 5 in the up next because I like to plan out my reads for the month with ARCs and new releases and such and 5 books just isn't enough. But if there were multiple queues or list that could work too.
