Background: I keep a note on my computer of bookish folks I follow on Storygraph because they have similar tastes, where I link to their profile and include a short list of books we've both loved. This helps give context to their updates in my Storygraph feed so I know if they loved a book whether it might also be a good fit for me.

However, here's the problem: If a person changes their profile name, the link is broken, and there's no way for me to figure out what their new profile name is without manually looking at every person I've followed or friended to figure out what the new name might be.

A related issue crops up when a person changes their profile name: There's no notification to their followers, and so I just start seeing a new name in my Storygraph updates, and I have no idea who it is.

Redirecting from the old profile name to the new would help in the first use case, or alternatively, notifying followers/friends of a profile name change would address both use cases (some other social media platforms do this when there's a name change for someone you follow/friend).
