Owning and reading different editions (or multiple) of the book

Sometimes I like to get an ebook of a book I own because it's either too heavy or it's a special edition I don't want to ruin. I would love an option where we can own different editions of a book or the ability to own a copy but also reading another (by utilizing the library for example).

I think both of these things are possible already! You can mark different editions as Owned already, I've got several books in my list like that (screenshot of Circe is from my Owned list, you can see that I own the audiobook and read it, and I just picked up a physical copy of the same book for my shelf recently and that book shows up as "you have read another edition"). A book will also show up in your Owned stats as Read even if you do something like read an ebook version from Libby and then go buy the physical book on your shelf (screenshot of Difficult Women is from my stats, I own the physical book but ended up reading a digital copy).

jaina8851 I think it still comes up as 'unread' in my stats though, it just says I've read another version above it. I get round this by just marking the version I own as read with no dates, but then it will count it as reading the book twice.

sophkean Hmm it still shows in my Read stats when I'm looking at the Owned Stats. It does have the message above it that I read another version, but it's counted in with the Read list. That's what I was showing in the second screenshot. But maybe it is showing differently for you!

jaina8851 I just tested it and you're right, it does do that! I was in the habit of just marking the owned versions as read, I'll have to go through and as long as it's said I've read another version removed the extra read tags
