it will be good to be able to select the genres of the books I read. I don't always agree with the genres that appear for the books I read

I will try that! I didn't knew that I can do that
Hey caropi! If you think the genre information is incorrect or a genre needs adding, you can let us know by clicking 'flag incorrect book information'. We do try to keep it to three or four high level ones, max, otherwise it can get a bit messy.
Alternatively, you can create your own tags for genres and then you'd be able to see stats for those ones too!
Abbie after reading this answer, I opened a ticket to request the addition of a new genre "Linguistics" (or similar) for language-related book. This book about the Latin language https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/8bf4da57-b9be-4bde-b386-7e67f5177182 has the "History" genre, but it's not a history book. However, the ticket was closed without any change. Will you still add new genres that are not currently available?
mikebond Hi Mike! Linguistics is on review list for genres. Regarding the "History" genre on this book, if you think the ticket was closed in error, email in and we'll take a closer look.
Nadia Thank you for your reply!
I had never heard of a review list for genres. How does it work? Is it a list of genres suggested by users? I'd like "Photography" to be added, too. I've read two books with photos about the Berlin Wall this year: they are not proper history books, but they aren't art books, either (although some photographs can be classified as art).
When you say "email in", what e-mail address should I write to?
Greetings from Italy,
Michele
mikebond Hi Michele!
It's a casual list that I keep and add to as makes sense based on feedback we get from users. I see there's a typo in my previous message: "...on our review list..." Adding a genre to StoryGraph isn't an easy thing to do: not only will the new genre tag have to be populated with books, there will have to be machine learning training done for certain features, etc. So any new genres released will have to form part of a planned, structured launch.
Re "email in" I mean support@thestorygraph.com, but it's best just to go the "Contact us" page in the app and message us that way. You can find a link to that page in the mobile hamburger menu or get to the form via the widget that appears bottom-right on desktop.
Nadia thank you for your thorough explanations. I have many books that would benefit from the addition of the Linguistics genre.
I have seen the "Contact us" link already. I'll mail the link to the book I had submitted a ticket for.
