Reading challenge: copy and edit existing challenge
Jun 11, 2023
- Copy and edit an existing challenge to save as new
Being able to copy or duplicate a challenge would be excellent so all the ones that repeat yearly, monthly, etc don't have to be manually done over and over. The a-z challenge as an example is 26 prompts to write out every time!!
I envison this as:
For an existing challenge, there's a "create a copy" button that then opens the "create new challenge" edit page with the info from the copied challenge pre-populated. Then you can edit it and save as a new one. I don't know that there'd be any reason not to allow people to copy a challenge they didn't make, but I guess that could be an option if needed.

Interestingly, my current use case seems to be a little different. There are some existing challenges around book awards and I was going to sign up, but I noticed some errors.
Eg, an award for best novella actually included the novel that was written as a later expansion of the original novella, not the original novella.
In the absence of being able to contact the Challenge host, the alternative is just to create a new Challenge without the mistake. And a copy+edit makes that a lot easier.
About to set up my annual “read my existing physical TBR” challenge again for 2026, disappointed to see this request has so little traction 😭
This would be extremely helpful. I am right now recreating a challenge for the next year and most of the prompts I would like to reuse.
THIS 🙏
Please! I have a recurring one every year and I'd love to just copy over the previous year's challenge to use as a template.
This is what I came here to request too! I’ve got a challenge where I’d like to just use the same prompts again next year, with minor updates to the challenge description, so being able to copy and then edit my original challenge would be so much easier than having to add all 36 prompts again individually.
Thanks!
Yes! This would be super helpful for, say, challenges that have you read every book that has received a certain prize. You can have the challenge be up to Year X, then a new one in Year Y, Year Z, etc. That way the challenge doesn't keep getting new books added after you've already completed it. (This is one of my pet peeves.)
I would love this! 😂
