I thought this was a fun idea from someone writing in! A good way to find similar users, especially when we eventually have other social links in our Profiles, so you can connect over the book you're both currently reading. :-)

A neat idea! Just be aware that some trolls could abuse this if the ability to message people is ever added. For popular new releases, you could have someone find people reading the book and message them spoilers. The feature should also include the ability to hide a books from the network on an individual basis.
