Hello! A friend said they started following me on The StoryGraph, but I can't see them anywhere. That leads me to believe that random people could follow me and I'd have absolutely no idea and no means of blocking them.
Is there a way to see who is following me? If not, I think that would be a really helpful community safety tool.

Hello!
The main reason you can't see who is following you is because we want to avoid the social media-style features that our product research demonstrated could lead to burnout and distraction from reading.
We are working on a few things in the coming months that we hope will alleviate your concern. In the meantime, you can set your profile to Private, which will prevent anyone from seeing your status updates.
You can find this setting by clicking the icon on the top right and then heading to Manage Account.
We purposely built The StoryGraph to avoid the potential for harassment. Users can’t message you, even if they’re following you, and there’s no ability to comment on your reviews or status updates. We won’t be allowing features like this, until we have the infrastructure in place to do them right, without the possibility of harassment.
For example, we aren’t sure exactly how our Groups/Book Clubs will work yet, but we’re envisioning you’ll have the ability to keep your profile private, and only people you’ve invited to join a private group will be able to interact with you.
As always, we plan on asking our Twitter/Instagram communities for feedback during development, to make sure that what we’re building is safe and makes sense for the community.
This makes a lot of sense! Thanks for all this info and all the work you're doing on The Storygraph.

With the proposed changes, you'll be able to have friends, but stop people who aren't friends from following you! You'll also be able to block specific people.
We really hope that helps to alleviate any concerns. :-)
