I have already spend an unhealthy amount of time making all sorts of new graphs… and it is beyond great. But still i have some very minor gripes that maybe could be looked into:
-
A function that automatically assignes different colors for a pie chart…
-
A function so we can order how The segments in a vertical chart looks. I have one for time of purchase and would like it to show them chronological and not by amount of books with The tag
-
Would be nice to choose different looks for segments in especially vertical… a Line rather than blocks. Again something that would suit a rigged timeline.
-
Last and probably hardest…. Is it possible to add tags to a graph without using The dropdown menu from hell 😅 I have sooo many tags to filter through when adding one
Still incredible boost to my ux so these are minor stuff
Thank you for the feedback! All great stuff and lots on our radar.
Over time there'll be a lot more customisation options and UX improvements for sure. This is just the beginning!
I actually want to address the performance stuff on tags lists earlier, rather than later. I just need to remotely load the tags as opposed to loading them all into the chart. If you think about it, we have a book search dropdown, which searches millions of books and isn't slow at all. 😅
Nadia Thanks! I am not surprised that my suggestions are already something that you are aware of :-) Regarding the dropdown it isnt so much the loading of all my tags, but me having to filter down through them and finding every relevant tags among all the irrelevant. My overview would be better from a tag page :-)
ulrikworm People posted elsewhere about the black default colour, so this morning I changed it to at least suggest a colour at random from the app's official colour palette. So is your first point covered now?
Also, I know it's the issue of searching through them all, but at least with the update I'm speaking off, none of them will show up until you start typing, so the list will already be more manageable. I still see a future where from the tag page you can add it to a custom chart though!
Nadia Yes and no... I havent checked the pie chart but imagine it works there. But I saw the change while adding more segments to a horizontal graph, where the colour changed for each segments. I think it would be best for them to have the same colour as default...
Looking forward for when we get to that future :-)
ulrikworm Ahhh, I thought you wanted different colours for each segment. Certainly, I know others want colour scheme suggestions so I'll leave it as is for now, and if you like a certain colour, I guess you can apply it to each following segment. Maybe in the future I'll have a checkbox/setting: have one colour/suggest different colours, etc.
Nadia i do want that but just limited to only pie charts. So you did solve that issue for me… just introduced a new minor issue with The other types of graphs 😅
ulrikworm Ahh, I see. I guess it does make more sense with pie charts and having the others default to one colour. I'll probably change that at some point, yes.
Nadia Just my $0.02, but, a way to solve this (and a way to alleviate some of the challenge with the android picker) would be to have a default set of colors and a default color order that they appear in, with the option for folks to customize them as an extra step if they want to. That way if the first three colors that always pop up are "purple", "blue", "green" (thinking of the colors of the standard book length chart, you would prob want more than just three in the set 😄), and I decide to try my hand at customizing and say "oh yuck visual design isn't actually my passion", there is an easy way to get back to something cohesive.
