Didn’t know where to put this!

I am not necessarily a fan of AI implementation when it comes to book descriptions cause it can start easily infringing on copyrighted material. But setting that aside, the Storygraph Preview you see online is partially broken but I think also going to turn people off of the app. (See link).

Creatives by and large don’t like AI in this generative way and I am not sure that it really adds to the StoryGraph experience, because it clouds out what people do want to see which are actual reviews and and the actual book description.

I agree with the original comment. I'm surprised people are enjoying it because the first time I saw the feature it didn't sit right with me, the AI Preview of a book I had read didn't match the book and I instantly turned it off.
I find it alienating and I just saw an author complaining that they instantly were turned off the platform because they saw an inaccurate AI Preview of their own book.
I turned it back on and continue to find previews of books I have read to not match what I know about books. Including themes that are not present lot over/under promising themes that are presented. The more indie the book, the less accurate the description, and probably more potential harm it's doing as a recommendation.
I also reviewed some books I DNFed to see what my personalized preview said and all the books I checked matched to all these books I had read which would have indicated it was a good match, but obviously they weren't because I DNF.
I see others saying they are enjoying it but how helpful is the preview for non spoiler recommendations that you couldn't get from skipping the description and reviewing the user submitted themes?
I'm going to be turning it off again. I don't think it's helpful, and I wish it wasn't there. When I tell people about Storygraph now I'm going to have to give my enthusiastic recommendation with a qualifier, they're prominently using this AI feature that I don't think is accurate, but you can turn it off at least.
How much good vs harm is this feature doing?

I would also like to counterpoint as I find the preview is one of my favourite features now. I enjoy books so much more when I only know the general themes and none of the actual full story line that is usually included in the book description. The previews always have a good mix of noting overall themes I've liked for previously books and from which books to give me a good overall sense if I'm going to enjoy it or not.

As a counterpoint, I find the StoryGraph Preview incredibly helpful because the actual book description and actual reviews often contain way more spoilers than I want to read before starting a book. Even with the spoiler feature that TSG offers, people often include spoilers visible in reviews, so I basically never click in there until I'm either finished with or contemplating DNFing a book. I like that it gives me a high level vibe check because I read a really wide array of genres.

(I'm also not sure what the person in the bsky link is talking about re: broken features since I could load the one review for their book just fine)
