for clarity ill share my scenario, I’ve read a lot of classic literature in the past and when i imported my goodreads data it was all transferred which is what i wanted. More recently the past several years i’ve been reading only fantasy. But a lot of my recommendations seem to be more heavy on the classical literature side when what i really want suggestions for is the fantasy because that’s what i read most of for the past 2 yrs.
And i think it should be suggestions for the most recent genre you read unless you toggle a button that makes it a mix of everything you’ve read in a randomized list.
There could also be an ’enhance button’ where it branches out to mix in suggestions for books from similar genres (example: i read fantasy romance and when i enhance the recommendations i would see something like sci-fi romance or magic realism)
TL;DR
- suggestions for most recent read genres as default
2.able to toggle and mix all genres you have read - enhance button to provide suggestions from genres that are similar to the ones we read the most recently
You can control your recommendations by your reading preferences survey and the filter menu on the recommendations page!
If you don't want any classical literature recommendations, remove any related genres from your survey (or even put them in the 'excluded genres' section), or filter down your recommendations to fantasy only, for example.
If you've also filled out the free-text box on your survey with all the themes, tropes, and topics you're interested in (there's a link to some guidelines on the 'Edit Survey' page), you should get a great mix exactly like the one you're seeking!
