Tags for reads/re-reads instead of just books

My favorite custom chart that I have made so far is my "book source" chart. I went through all my Read books and added tags for where the book was from when I read it.

However, if I ever re-read books in the same edition, my data will become incorrect.

Scenario:
I buy a new book and tag it "from-store". I read it this year and love it. In two years, I read that same edition again. I'm in a pickle... I need to either

  • have an erroneous "from-store" in my 2025 data
  • change the tag to "from-shelf" to be accurate in 2025 which would make 2023 inaccurate
  • pretend I'm reading a different edition even though it's the same one so that I can tag it differently

Finding myself wishing for this a lot as the year has progressed. I've been doing a lot more re-reading than I expected of the same editions that I previously read, and in order to make my charts look correct for this year, it means they must be incorrect for the first time I read them.

  • The "book source" chart as previously described
  • I also have a "re-read" tag for a different chart, and if I apply it to this edition, it will show up correctly for this year, but wrong for the year where I originally read it
  • I also have "date added to TBR" and "time on TBR" tags which I do not apply to re-reads if I read two separate editions. Again I don't want to remove these tags, but they will be showing up incorrectly in this year's data.
