Tracking books without pages

Add a way for users to indicate that a book does not have numbered pages but has tracked parts.

I read a lot of trade paperbacks (collections of previously published comic books) and some of them do not re-number their pages when they combine the books. They do give you an indication of how many books/chapters are in the series (ex: 3 of 12, 2 of 6) so I'd like to be able to indicate the number of chapters in a trade paperback/graphic novel, put in what part I've finished, and have it auto-calculate the percentage and page numbers.

Example: https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/f4c81882-a81d-4335-bf5d-4f4ad8c51e71

This book has no page numbers but it has 12 chapters. So after finishing chapter 6, it would tell me that I'm 50% finished or finished approximately 164 pages. There's often some extra material in the Trade Paperbacks that don't count toward the story but I think the page number approximation is fine in these cases.

I'm not sure how accurate this is but I recently tried using AI to calculate my pages (Gemini) and it feels about right. Where it is truly accurate or a "horseshoes and hand grenades" situation it would be useful.

I'd also love a way to track number of pages read in a sitting vs total, for reading comic book collections. Like, I'm reading an X-Men omnibus, I'm currently at page 200, and I read one issue. I know it's 19 pages. For simple math like this, it's no problem to just say "Okay I'm at page 219 now", but I'd love to be able to just enter "19" into the tracker and have it do the addition behind the scenes for me, because I read a lot of comics 😅 and having to do a ton of mental math every time I log my reading is challenging. For my use case, I'd want to be a little more precise than "there are 12 issues in this book, divide the total page count by 12 and let me just say how many I've finished", because sometimes issues are double-sized and I like to know which page count is associated with which issue.

Okay! For now I'm guessing that you just calculate the percentage yourself once you reach a checkpoint?

Nadia Yes, right now I do the math and track by percentage.
