World map stat showing number of books from each country

I've mentioned this previously on a thread but I'll leave it here as well for voting, I think having a 2D or 3D world map plot where the dots would be the number of books read from each country (based on the respective author's nationality) would be really interesting. Something like the image attached.

I know some readers are really invested in reading books from all sorts of cultures. Having it as a map they would slowly fill in could be so much fun. Not to mention a great way to promote an "around the world" challenge on social media such as booktube, which would increase visibility for StoryGraph.

I would greatly appreciate this feature, as I currently use a separate spreadsheet to track similar information. It’s fascinating to see where authors are from or where they live, as it adds an extra layer of connection to the books I read. That said, I’m not sure how this data could be implemented within StoryGraph. For my spreadsheet, I manually input the authors’ countries, but integrating this into the app might require users to contribute this information, as it’s not always readily available. Regardless, it would be an exciting and valuable addition to the platform!

I absolutely love this idea! As a reader and writer, I think it's a great way to improve the diversity of our reading without outright labelling the authors' identities, and it would be so visually satisfying too so see it slowly getting filled as you read!

Thanks for posting this! We've had a lot of suggestions around this over the years and we'd love to offer it for sure!

Nadia, I just joined the Read Around the World challenges, and I think it would be awesome motivator if you could see what countries you have read via a map as well.
