Book Lists or Playlists

I would love to have an option to create different playlist for books that people can follow, comment and suggest books under. Maybe even upvote books.
I know we have tags but I would like to have something different that would not count in stats and would be more of a public facing thing.
You can have them public or unlisted like buddy reads and this is something I'd love to see in the homepage.
An example of this is "Anticipated 2025 releases by BIPOC authors"

I second this - I would love to have the option to have public lists where people can add their own and maybe even upvote each other's picks (for example, "Best Sports Romance") and have the option to have private lists where you can list and order books just for yourself (for example Favorite Couple List). It would be great if we could also annotate the entries and add little notes about them. Perhaps even have the option to decide if it's costume order (i.e., the creator has a specific order, and that's how it's shown) or community order, which is based on how many upvotes entries have, with the most upvotes shown at the top, etc.
Yes!! I would love this feature. Especially for the not yet released books. I have them tagged at the moment but I would love for this to show on my homepage
I wonder if I should merge this into this though: https://roadmap.thestorygraph.com/requests-ideas/posts/save-follow-public-tags.
Nadia I see the similarities but I'd personally rather it was a separate thing. I don't want to use tags for this because I feel tags are best used for stats, and if I started using it for lists as well it could quickly get unmanageable. I already tag author nationality and book source (library etc) so my list of tags is quite long and I'd like to make a list of recommendations for friends without having to add to my tag collection!
I really enjoy making a Spotify playlist and would love a similar thing for books, and I think it should have more similarities to the book challenges in terms of layout and space for a bit of explanation text.
Caroline_N Noted. Our list functionality (the ones you do make via tags) will have more features coming anyway, including a way to add a description and a custom order, etc., but we may also offer a way to make a list independent of tags.
Nadia I agree with Caroline! I just want book lists with zero stats associated with them!
An example this can be used for is a book club creating a playlist for members to suggest books for them to read, the privacy option would allow them to only share it between them.
aleenala Different lists for one club, too. We have monthly themes and collect all the books that have been nominated, even though we read only one of those.
@imagnary_space I know we can use tags for this but I have specific lists in minds I don’t want to make stats for, and it makes the tags lists cluttered and hard to go through
