I'm not sure what exactly the best way to frame this request is, and am open to alternative solutions than what I am describing. I will sometimes begin a book with one edition (e.g. ebook), and then decide I want to read it in another (e.g. audio). In these instances, I usually end up with two different editions in my Currently Reading, and I end up marking only one edition as Finished. I want to remove the initial edition from my Currently Reading without marking it as DNF, Paused, or Finished, since none of those statuses is accurate.
Between ebook and physical book I will often just Switch Editions, as I feel like the pages are comparable enough between the two. I don't feel the same way about ebook/physical and audio, as I separately track pages and minutes listened, and won't Switch Editions but instead start tracking on another edition.
I don't want this to impact how editions are handled, as I know many people, myself included, will re-read or tandem read different editions of a book, so I wouldn't want finishing one edition to mark the book as read across all editions. I want some sort of Status that will mark an edition as Dropped/Inactive or something along those lines, where the implication is not that you will necessarily continue, but it also doesn't have the connotations that come from a DNF. I wonder if it could be some sort of Tag or Checkbox on the DNF option?
Thank you!
I think this ties into this option: https://roadmap.thestorygraph.com/requests-ideas/posts/immersive-reading-1 where the app would seamlessly handle toggling between editions.
Nadia Yes, it feels related! Not sure if it is exactly covered by the discussion in the Immersive Reading thread, but could end up being covered incidentally (I see a comment about how to make it so that only one edition is marked as Finished -- if there is a solution implemented there for how to mark the "unfinished" edition in a way so that it is not Finished by is also no longer listed in Currently Reading, etc)
