(Email?) Notifications for new books by authors you've subscribed to. Possibly with the ability to subscribe to specific series by the author.

Apart from the fixing of the slowness and bugginess of the app/site, this is the most important feature StoryGraph could implement. It would level the playing field against Goodreads as it is a feature already implemented there and one of the main reasons people use that service. I use StoryGraph primarily but I still subscribe to authors with amazon/goodreads so I get notified, but boy oh boy is that badly implemented as I'll get notified when a German version of a book is coming out when I only speak English.

So another idea to add to this new book notification is being able to customise it by language, I wish to only know when a new book in a series/ from an author releases in my primary language, but I also understand others speak multiple languages and would probably like to know about book releases for both English and Spanish, for example. So being able to select each language you'd want to know a book releases in would be perfect.

Yes please! Would love a notification (push?) when an author announces a new book and again when it releases.

I read so many authors and series, manually remembering “oh it’s been a few years, I wonder if Scott Lynch released Thorn of Emberlain yet? Let me check!” Has become a chore.

yes I would love to be able to subscribe/follow an author or series. Maybe give the users a choice bewteen emil or in-app notifications though. Still it would be such a neat feature so I don't lose track of books from my favorite authors, or from series that take long to get new books!

This is the thing I miss most about Goodreads!

I would absolutely love this, particularly because it's so easy to forget to check new releases after a while from that author you really like and that's a pity. Also I think it would be an important feature for Storygraph's business model as it would bring in a lot of interest from authors themselves and publishing companies if they can generate hype for new books through the site and easily reach the existing fan base of that author.

Yes I love this feature idea as sometimes I can't keep up with all the authors I enjoy and would just love to have the ability to get updates on new books from them.

Sounds like a great idea to also drive pre-sales for authors! 👏
