I had the following (summarized) conversation with a friend very shortly after encouraging him to sign up for TSG:
Him: How do I specify that I'm listening to a book rather than reading it?
Me: Editions! sends a screencapture of how to swap to an audio edition
Him: Huh. I guess now that I know that I'll be able to do it. I was expecting to be able to select "Listening" instead of "Reading" in the dropdown.
It made me think about the fact that when you search for a book in the top bar, it seems like the edition that comes up is almost always a book with pages, and usually a physical book. Even if you have your "default format" set, it doesn't seem like that impacts the search results to prefer that type of edition.
For people who almost exclusively read audiobooks, like this friend, they have to always go and change out their edition in order to log the book correctly. I don't know if his suggestion is the right one (though it did make me go "ooooh!" at the possibility of essentially having a one-click option myself of changing from the book-with-pages default edition to a different book-with-minutes edition instead of the many click workflow I usually do). It might just be as simple as having the "default format" setting connect with the search results. But I just wanted to pass along the feedback because I know how difficult it can be to collect feedback from brand new users about stuff they find challenging!
