Tags automatically switch to the edition that you’ve read (instead of showing “You’ve read another edition of this book” in the tag list).

As a counter argument, I really would not like this. I often read multiple editions of the same book, and apply different tags to them. Having something automagic like this would probably mess up a lot of my data. Maybe an option in the drop-down to consolidate tag data, similar to how "switch to this edition" transfers tag data?

Because of users like jaina8851 we won't be able to make this change. Maybe when we get a bit more advanced with tagging functionality, we'll have edition and family-level tags.

Jaina, were you talking about having that option here? I don't need a detailed answer as I'm not looking to hash this out or work on it now. Just one/two sentences max. Just want to figure out how to group different posts. Thank you!

Nadia EDIT: I thought that was a link to a different tag-related request 🤦 I didn't look closely bc I was on my phone, so sorry!! Yes, I think what I was describing in that post would cover this case! I would love to be able to have general tags at the book level in addition to granular edition specific tags. Looks like I can't get rid of the screenshot, but this is a rough idea of what I meant about an option to be able to transfer tags.
