The StoryGraph's "End of Year Review" Page
Shipped
Oct 4, 2021
We've always wanted to have one!
A special, easily-shareable page/infographic style thing that shows a selection of information, stats, diagrams, charts, etc. of your reading during that year.
What would you like to see on such a page? Share all of your ideas: big or small!
The great thing about a feature like this is that we can adapt and improve it to surprise and delight y'all every single year! :-D
Perhaps we'll have one ready for 2021, but no promises!

I'd love a section that highlights your most controversial reviews (both the book you've scored the most highly compared to its average score, and the one you've scored the lowest compared to its average score).
jepson_brown Fun idea! Essentially when you're the most contrarian.
You can get to your 2021 StoryGraph Reading Wrap-up via the in-app notification (for everyone that has at least 2 books marked as 'read' in 2021), or at the bottom of your 2021 stats page!
I would love for this to be available year-round, the same way Goodreads does it. I used to use it to keep tabs on my reading throughout the year. Some highlights I like from Goodreads and miss currently being easily available on StoryGraph:
Also inspired from elsewhere (Letterboxd), maybe some more all-time stats like most re-read book, most popular of all time, longest of all time, shortest, etc.
Since we have the all-time stats year round (which will always be developing), we think it'll be more exciting to have a special end-of-year wrap-up that comes out on the first day of the New Year (we're still aiming to release a 2021 one this month), to give people something to look forward to, something to surprise and delight them. Some of the information we display there will only make sense/be interesting in the context of a summary of a whole year's worth of reading.
That's not to say that our general stats page can't have a "longest book/shortest book (so far)" stat and other updates like that, but we'd rather have a unique, special thing that comes out once a year separate to our general stats dashboard!
Love the idea of having some all-time stats in the end-of-year wrap-up!
Maybe something for re-reads? How many books you reread or even if you read a book twice in the same year!
A cute graphic eventually would be if there was a way to see all the titles read in a year lined up like they were on a bookshelf.
Yes! I love this. I would actually like it if it can be monthly as well. A little graph where it shows what books I've read that month in compact way to share with friends.
It might be interesting to see stats related to how long it took to read books over the course of the year, both average and individually. For example, looking at my stats, I know I finished a bunch of books in June, but I didn't start them all in June, so it would be great to see how finish dates stack up against start dates, I think!
Fun encouragements and motivations for next year too! Genres to try getting into next year, and book suggestions based on what you read this year to start your new year off looking great!
I love that idea: suggestions for next year!
I would love surprising elements! I'm thinking about the year end wrap-up that Spotify does where it shows me analytics that I wouldn't necessarily have access to myself. Trying to find pictures of all the slides that they share is apparently difficult in October since most people share those things to their Stories where they promptly disappear 😅
But I'm thinking maybe like, something that shows "your most surprising favorite" where it highlights a book that you rated 5* that is most unlike your usual genre/mood/length etc, or "your most unique favorite" where you loved a book a lot more than similar readers did, or things like that. I also love the chart that Spotify does where it compares "minutes listened" over the past five years, and particularly for myself this year, having read WAY more than in any previous year, a chart that showcases total pages read YOY for the past five years would become increasingly delightful in the years to come.
I would say that the most amazing feature of this idea for me is "easily shareable". Right now in order to share any kind of summary of reading, I would have to take screenshots to share it, and that's clunky. So an easy way to share, e.g., a collage of all the book covers without me having to screenshot, scroll, screenshot, scroll, would be awesome!
Thanks for these notes! I was definitely thinking of Spotify when thinking about new and interesting data points that you don't see all-year round but which make sense for a fun year-end wrap-up!
LOVE this! Even just seeing the stats we can currently see in an easily shareable post or graphic format would be a fab start!
We want to make the current charts/stats pages easily shareable regardless!
