I've reading on my Kobo. After a couple of days i logged in to SG and see SG thinks i listen to a book. But i read it.
I saw the book only had a audio book and paperback in the database. How do Kobo sync select the type of book you reading?

Hello,
i've found a few times books that have a wrong (non existing) language, that contains special characters, such as semicolon ;
If a user has read a book in this language, in their Stats page they will see this language listed, but when clicking on it, to see which are the books with that language, it will not load. This would be nice to have it fixed in order to be able to correct the languages in those books.
Some examples i found of these languages are:
Spanish; Castil
Italian ; latin
When clicking on the url for seeing the books in the stat page, it will try to open an url like this (i removed the user_id, but i can pass it privately if needed):
?user_id=&chart_type=Languages&label=italian ; latin&year=&read_status=Read
This url doesn't work and it won't load any book.
I tried modifying it in the browser by replacing the semicolon with %3b and it works:
?user_id=&chart_type=Languages&label=italian %3B latin&year=&read_status=Read
I think it would be nice to have this replacement for all common special characters so people can easily find the books with the wrong info in their read list
I've received a bizarre amount of "Who's It For?" summaries that use the word "riven" which isn't a particularly common word and thus keeps throwing me. I'd say I'm seeing it about 30% of the time when I look up books.
Maybe this is just a complaint, but the word isn't always being used correctly either. I don't know how you manage the LLM which generates those summaries so I thought it might be worth pointing out. I have started screenshotting every encounter I have with this phenomenon in case you'd be interested.
Over the course of the past couple of days, I have noticed random books are showing publisher names in the series field. No librarian seems to be adding these (per the log) and when I remove them, another one appears.
Example: https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/1a6966fd-5552-4166-ab8b-dd858414c315
You can see I've removed a random series from this book twice and they keep reappearing (it has one now).
This may be problem more on Kobo side, but the disconnect does not fully work. Clicking on the Disconnect from Kobo opens the Kobo account page and the indication changes from Connectec to Disconnected, but after returning to Storygraph account the status shows as Connected. I had to the account settings on Kobo website and there click on Disconnect to really have the account disconnected.
When using the home screen add note/edit date, if I use that journal entry as a buddy read entry, it reliably transfers it to the buddy read with the wrong page number, often appearing earlier meaning spoilers have accidentally been given
Whenever on my phone (Android, Samsung Galaxy A22 5G - version of the app 1.29) I click a link that should direct to a specific place in the Storygraph, instead it just opens my app on the home screen. When I copy paste in browser, the link leads to the correct place. It's been happening for a while but I most recently noticed when I clicked the link in Nadia's newsletter to go to the "The Historian".
the recommendations based on my recent reads and on "similar readers" are dominated by Amazon exclusive titles - I guess in Kindle Unlimited. I don't read any Amazon exclusives myself and don't plan to. It makes the recommendations much less valuable if so many of them are not generally available. I don't know if it would be possible to tag or label books that are exclusive to a particular platform and let us filter them.
Today I noticed that my comments don't show up in the Buddy Read page, despite my checking the required box. I've tried it multiple times, tried logging out and reinstalling the app, but it just doesn't seem to connect anymore. I thought it might be due to it being a user-added book, but it worked before so I don't know.
I know you're busy with the Kobo stuff, I don't want to add anything to your plate, but I just wanted to flag the issue for when you do have time!
Multiple people I've asked, including me, have been seeing our profile pictures blurry, even if the original file was clear. This happens on the phone app, as well as on the website. This also happens with the profile pictures of other users we try to check profiles of.
So i was attempting to switch from an audiobook format to the physical book format. However i am unable to switch edition to the version i own and have labeled as to read but i can switch to any other edition. In the picture I've attached you can see the hardback version i want to switch to on top with not switch edition option and the paperback on the bottom with a switch edition option. Very weird this is not an issue I've encountered before.
There are times when I’m adding Japanese editions of manga to the site where, when I complete the process, it will add vol 2 into vol 1’s editions for example. I always go through the search bar first to look up ISBN before proceeding with adding anything new so I’m not too sure what’s going on there. This has happened to me maybe 3 to 4 times now I think?
Would be great if I can open the view/edit read history for a book I'm currently reading. I often want to check how often I've read a book. But I can't check that easily when the book is on Currently reading
When I paste in text to the search box and write something after it, ex paste in author and write book title name, if I click on "show all results" it will show the results but remove one or two letters from the text that I entered in the search box.
I DNFed a book today, and doing so double-counted the number of pages I had read. That is, I had read 116 pages and upon DNFing, the system counted my having read those 116 pages again for a total of 232 pages. This is visible across the journal entries for the book (see attached) as well as the monthly stats page and the yearly pages goal. Chatting with other users, a couple of others confirmed having recently encountered the same issue.
The number of reviews on a book’s page, and when you click on them to see the reviews do not match.
You can replicate this with the book: A Parade of Horribles by Matt Dinniman (2163 vs 866).
I used to see an indication of new forum posts on the Forums page for our group. This one:
https://app.thestorygraph.com/book_clubs/a61251cd-ba25-4ec1-afa7-0b802d7009e5/forums/a2a91ed1-86ea-4c3b-8dca-4c6a95dce27b
for example had a new post added half an hour ago as of when I'm writing this. I only knew that when I went to the Forum page for the group because I remembered the earlier comment count. In the past (a month or more ago, I think) there would have been a red dot next to the forum and then next to the new post. I depended on those (in the absence of notifications) to keep up with group activity.
I'm using a Chromium-based browser (Vivaldi) plus the iOS and iPadOS apps and am not seeing these indicators in any of them.
I've always been able to search by ISBN without removing the hyphens but recently that stopped working. The book I'm looking for appears if I remove the hyphens. Thanks for looking into this!

After writing a review, I go back to the book page, click the "based on xx reviews" link, check the "Only show reviews..." checkbox, and read other written reviews. Before a recent update, my review appeared at the top.
Now, my review never appears in the unfiltered list of written reviews. It does appear if I click on the star filter, though.
Can the previous behavior of my own review being visible in the unfiltered list be restored? The current behavior makes me feel crazy because I can only see it sometimes, and I didn't intentionally try to exclude seeing my own review.
Thanks!
On larger challenges (1000+ entries), completion graph doesn't load, instead just says "content missing"
Since the newest iOS update, myself and other book club members noticed a bug where nothing will load on the community tab. Screen will load if you switch from profile back to community.
In exported csv, any field containing non-ASCII characters such as letters with diacritical marks, which are common in many languages, gets mangled into symbols. For example, José Saramago becomes Jos√© Saramago and Milan Šimečka becomes Milan ≈†imeƒçka. Would be great to have this fixed, not just for author names but also because it makes reviews not written in English unreadable.
I'm trying to find books in my owned books that fit certain prompts, those prompts usually have like a requirement for a certain word in the title. So then I search those words to see if I own any books that say they have that word in the title. The results that come back are not what I'm looking for.
For example I tried to search Tuesday and got back Thursday Murder Club. Then I looked up Warm and got Farm. 3/4 of the letters does not make farm warm. 😆
Ampersands (and presumably greater than and less than signs, though I haven't seen those) are being incorrectly double-escaped in reviews on the news feed. That is, the HTML source of the page contains "&" so "&" is displayed to the user.
I often see duplicates in my lists, even when I only have one edition set as to read or owned etc. sometimes they are one after the other, and sometimes they are seperated by other books. When you click the three dots, the menu opens for both instances of the book in the list.
